"Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you." - Oprah Winfrey
So this entire blog is going to be overdramatic lol, let's go ahead and get that out of the way.
I'm not leaving, I'm not quitting, I'm not giving up but I am hanging up something that I have been in love with since childhood. Creating and editing videos has been a passion of mine from the day I had a computer and camera capable of the work. Taking nothing and turning into something people enjoy provides me with a feeling that I cannot describe and through the power of YouTube and Ballislife.com, my work has been viewed and enjoyed by tens of millions of people around the world over the last 14 years. Now that me and my business partners are building this #HoopState thing, the reality is; editing videos is too time consuming and my efforts will be better served helping my brothers create the content while I create opportunities for our business to grow.
The reason for this post? Well first of all, I want to say thank you. Thank you personally for reading this. Thank you if you have ever watched my work, liked or shared a video, subscribed to our channel or followed us on social. Thank you if you've ever purchased a stream or copped merch to represent. Thank you if you've ever attended an event or told a friend to check us out. Basically thank you for supporting me and us in any and every way possible; you are literally the reason we are here and you will be reason we are able to grow. You are everything to us and we want to make sure we have a solid, sustainable business to continue to provide you with dope content, events and merch.
Second of all, I want to have a home to showcase all the work I am most proud of over the last 14 years. Let's call this, my resume:
THE BEGINNING OF THE HOOP STATE SERIES WITH BALLISLIFE
The #HoopState name was born from this series around 9 years ago as a monthly compilation of the best plays, players and moments from North Carolina high school basketball. Four years and MILLIONS of views later, the Hoop State series is still one of the most popular pieces of content to grace the high school scene. There are around 4 episodes per season and some of the best can be found below.⤵️
THE NEW SOUTH SHOW WITH ROD BRIDGERS
The New South Show, or podcast, whichever you prefer, started over three years ago by myself and my guy Rod Bridgers. This was our first attempt to provide personality to sports coverage in NC and we came out of the gate FIRING. Around half a million youtube views later, me and Rod are gearing up for a proper comeback. Probably a good time to mention, the reason we have lacked consistency with shooting this show is completely my fault. However, now that the editing is done for me, there are no more excuses. Expect us to come back in a big way by end of summer with our new producer, Rod Bridgers.
THE HOLIDAY INVITATIONAL
The Holiday Invitational, now the John Wall Holiday Invitational, is one of the biggest high school basketball tournaments in the country and with the help of event director, Bill Sewell as well as my OG Donnie Dat Bui, we pride ourselves on providing the #HoopState with some of the craziest action in high school basketball every December. Here are a couple of the top recaps from the event. ⤵️
NO OFF SEASON WITH JOHN WALL
I was blessed to spend my summers with NBA All-Star and Raleigh native, John Wall from 2016 - 2019. This is the first series we did, shot and produced in it's entirety by myself. Extremely proud of the work I did with my brother, John.
SUMMER OF SEPARATION WITH JOHN WALL
The second edition of the off-season series with Houston Rockets, John Wall. I got to meet one of my favorite rappers during this season as well, Lil Wayne after getting to shoot with LeBron James in the summer before. Seriously can't thank John enough for all of the memories he helped provide for me. PS, don't let rich people fool you; private planes are terrifying. TERRIFYING!!
HOOP STATE STUFF WITH ANTHONY SIMMONS
Hoop State Stuff was a crack at my first variety show and it made perfect since to have this hosted by Anthony Simmons. The show is centered around competition and personality. Season two will start production soon, stay tuned!
ROAD TO THE RAFTERS (TWO SEASONS)
Road to the Rafters is in it's second season. Follow along during the full season of two monster programs in the NCHSAA 2A EAST. Farmville Central High School is looking to stamp their dynasty with a three peat state championship run. The other team is the South Granville High School. South Granville finished last season undefeated before losing to Farmville in the final four and are looking for their first championship in school history. Also, be sure to check out season 1 and keep it locked for season three... Combine Academy?!
