"Who you callin' a pilgrim motherf***er? Gobble this turkey!" - Billy Hoyle [White Men Can't Jump]
Carter Whitt made the shocking decision Monday to commit to Wake Forest over schools like NC State, Ohio State, and Nebraska; amongst others. He Joins four star prospect Robert Mcray in Steve Forbes first recruiting class at Wake Forest. Whitt is a 6’3 top 100 point guard who will be enrolling at Wake Forest in December.
When talking about why he chose Wake Forest, Whitt said,
“I think it’s the best fit for me because Coach Forbes runs a guard-driven offense that gives a lot of freedom. I’ll be able to have the ball in my hands to create, which is when I’m at my best.”
Which if you’ve seen the tape, you would agree with. Whitt is a floor general point front man, who can pass with immaculate vision and feel. He can also score the ball with ease whether he is pulling up from 40 or taking it to the rack. He will be able to come into Wake and become and impact player immediately.
What happened at Brewster? Carter told our own @HoopStateWebb that the situation at Brewster wasn't what they (he and his family) were told it would be. With COVID still playing a major role nationally, it's easy to see why things could have changed. Whitt saw an opportunity to get to college early and start the next step of his career; he took it.
What does this mean for Wake? Well wake is getting a new head coach and new point guard coming in the same year which will give them an opportunity to form a unique bond that could see these two grow the program together. This will also help them get a few more commits for the 2021 class.
When asked about who he'd like to bring in, Whitt said,
"I want to try and get Jonas Aidoo, Lucas Taylor and Alden Applewhite."
With this commitment, their new head coach, and more commits sure to come; Wake is looking to turn their program around.
